WINNIPEG (June 28, 2012) – The traditional blue and gold of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will share the field with the vibrant red and black corporate colours of Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. when a new marketing partnership between the two organization kicks off at the Bombers’ season-opening game on Friday.

The agreement includes sideline and end zone signage, the opportunity for consumer promotions and a hospitality suite. The team will play their final season this year at the Canad Inns Stadium before moving into the much-anticipated Investor’s Group field next season.

With a celebrated 55-season history, a birth in the 2011 Grey Cup, one of the best fan bases in the Canadian Football League and one of the strongest player rosters in years, the Bombers will be a formidable force in the 2012 CFL season, according to Yokohama Canada marketing manager James de Chavez, and a powerhouse marketing partner.

“The Bombers are woven deeply into the fabric of the community in Winnipeg, and Bombers fans are the most dedicated in the league,” says de Chavez. “The Bombers organization creates the kind of buzz that is ideally suited to a high-profile, high-integrity brand like Yokohama. A partnership with the Blue Bombers puts us in the middle of the action.”

Friday’s game, a highly emotional re-match against the B.C. Lions, pits the 2011 Grey Cup adversaries in the first regular season game of the year. Kick-off is 9:00pm CDT. Part of the CFL’s Canada Day Kickoff weekend, the game will be broadcast on TSN.

The partnership with the Blue Bombers is part of an enlarged footprint for Yokohama in the CFL in 2012, de Chavez says. A marketing agreement with the Edmonton Eskimos has also been unveiled.

Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. markets and distributes a full line of tires for high performance, passenger car, light truck, and commercial truck applications, as well as off-the-road tires for mining, forestry and construction applications.
