Vallee-Jonction, Quebec (July 4, 2015) - While Americans were celebrating the 4th of July, drift fans in rural Quebec descended upon Autodrome Chaudiere Vallee-Jonction, about an hour south of historic Quebec City to cheer on competitors in the fourth round of the DMCC Championship.

The single day format of the event would provide precious few practice laps for competitors to set up their cars, but Yokohama sponsored driver Patrick Cyr was confident in his Scion FR-S right off the trailer. "With so little practice time being split by about 25 drivers, I knew we were not going to get very many laps in before qualifying, so I focused a lot on getting the line down and hitting all the clips around the course", said Cyr, who added, "Overall I was happy with how things went in practice, and was looking forward to qualifying".

The driver went on to lay down a qualifying lap that was as close to perfect as possible, hitting his clipping points perfectly and the fans went wild when the Scion's rear bumper came ever so close to touching the track wall as the car climbed the bank. The run, which saw the entire course covered in smoke from the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08R tires, netted Cyr first place starting position with a score of 90 points.

Cyr's first round competitor suffered a mechanical problem at the start, moving the FR-S directly to the second round. Round two saw Cyr up against his primary rival Jeff Laflamme. The Yokohama driver ran a great lead lap, with Laflamme staying within a half a car length throughout. When Cyr's turn to follow came, he made a handful of small mistakes, including dropping a rear wheel into the dirt. The performance saw Cyr finish in fifth spot for the day.

Acknowledging the opportunity to learn, Cyr says "I spent most of practice leading, trying to get that perfect line, which I did landing that 1st place in qualifying spot, but I feel I wasn't as prepared for tandem as much as I maybe could of been if I had followed more in practice." The driver plans to use the lessons learned at Vallee-Jonction to strengthen the team's performance at future events.
